HAVANA (AP) — Havana's always lively streets are even more colorful than usual these days.
Giant ants climb buildings. White-clad, face-painted circus performers frolic on a central boulevard. Cuban and American chefs serve invited guests and walk-in gourmet meals from a boxy shipping-container kitchen.
Havana kicked off its Bienal art festival Friday with installations opening up across the city and performance pieces to delight passers-by.
Officials say 180 artists from 43 countries and thousands of art aficionados are taking part.
This is the 11th edition of the Bienal, which was first held in 1984.
