A man has been charged with the theft of a guitar that belongs to country singer Hank Williams Jr, the police in Nashville, Tennessee have said.

Worth $15,000 (£9,483), the custom-made 1968 Les Paul guitar vanished from the musician' s cabin in July 2010.

Adam Dale Broach, of Notasulga, Alabama, was arrested on Sunday 20 May by the Pike County's Sheriff's office.

He is charged with first-degree theft of property.

An arrest report says the guitar was recovered in the same month that it disappeared, when it was given to Wayne Mills of the Wayne Mills Band as a present during a concert in Sheffield.

Hank Williams Jr is the son of country pioneer Hank Williams.

His music is a blend of country, rock and blues and he has recorded more than 50 studio albums.
