Taj Mahal returning to Alaska as part of tour

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — For nearly half a century, Taj Mahal has traveled the world, taking the stage for his rendition of the blues an average of 125 times a year.

The Harlem-native is on the road again, with planned stops around the United States, Canada and Europe this year.

Next up will be shows in Homer this Sunday, with later stops in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau.

He first came to Alaska in the early 1970s and has returned many times since, he says, as much for the eclectic mix of people as the endless range of fishing options and the wide appreciation for musicians willing to make the trip north.
